So there may be a better way, but for now I'm trying this: the blog posts can be "pre-dated." Either under the edit option or the original posting there is a drop down menu (Post Options) at the bottom left of the compose box. There's an option for Post Date and Time. If you select "Scheduled at" then you can date a post to years prior.
For procedural stuff etc I'm thinking we can pre-date posts so they are always at the end of the blog and thus out of people's way. If you'll note, this post is dated Jan 1, 2000. I think anything procedural, like technical stuff, blog composition stuff, administrative, should go under the 2000 year. The "About us" is under 2001. I was thinking that could be more meta-data - responses to each other's pieces that may be too much for a comment, stuff like that.
This may be unnecessary. I'm broke right now, but in two weeks I'll get a website going where we can keep (and link) that other stuff. So disregard most of this message. Ha.
I don't mind using the blog for now. It's easy for me, at least. I don't know what it's like having a website. I tried having one a while back when I first bought my mac but I never really got into it. Although I guess a website would offer us so many more possibilities. Eh, I'm in. Split the cost?
Regarding the website, I found a free host (limewebs). It's actually nicer than the host I had years back when I paid. I'm setting it up and trying to streamline it. That'll be for ancillary stuff. I like the blog for 95% of this. It's a good format for tracking what we're doing.
So on some email, I think I wrote about Meta-data. Here's what I meant:
What do you think of keeping the blog posts as final versions, that is we revise them and they are up to date, but then link to earlier versions? I like to see the revisions. I think its part of this. So like your post (No Doubt), the earlier draft could be saved elsewhere...might get excessive...I don't know. I like the idea.
I see what you're saying. I like that. The thing about the No Doubt post is that I first wrote it when i was drunk and should have been sleeping. then I posted it without ever looking at it sober. It makes sense to me to show everything, and I should have saved the old one but I hated it. I had no idea how depressing it sounded until this morning. I never meant it to sound that way. But you're right. it'd be much more interesting and telling to see both.
So! Reading back upon our posts I realized that you have been more reactant to my original post than i first realized. I am somewhat appalled at myself for not noticing earlier the reference to south dakota in your first post. Your mention of the Ogallala completely evaded me until now. I feel as though I have broken some thread of improv by this mistake. I think it's something you took in stride and I admire and thank you for that. What it seems to have led to is a formation of, so far, two distinct characters. We have a trailer and we have a pilot and secondary characters seem to be seeping in.
I'd like to incorporate photos. Although I'm not sure quite how to go about that yet. I might even illustrate the trailer, seeing as how we have none.
ReplyDeleteNice pic! It's just right.
ReplyDeleteAlden,
